With a little research, one finds the history of Halloween rich and varied. This ancient holiday dates back to the Celtic era. Originally celebrated as a day called Samhain (pronounced sow in), this holiday has had an interesting development into the holiday we now know.

Original celebrations began more than 2,000 years ago. The Celtic culture was located in many places, primarily in parts of the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Northern part of France.

The Celtics would celebrate around November 31 that they called New Year. This time of year was chosen because of the fact that the warm weather and the harvest were over and the winter was going to start. Many of the people believed during the winter season it would result in deaths among many.

The history of Halloween is so interesting due to the religious implications. The physical and spiritual worlds were believed to be closest together on October 31st. The veil came down between the two worlds.

The belief of the people was that the ghosts, or spirits would be walking among them on the 31st of October. The beliefs of the people thought they would damage the crops and create chaos and havoc for the people living

During this time in the history of Halloween, you would find that there was a lot of optimism in the air. There was Druids that were Celtic priests that they were receptive to future prophecies. During this time of the year you would find the Druids would be very busy on this night, they would go around November 1 to the people and others predictions about things that are going to happen in the up-and-coming year.

While they were in the communities of the Celtics in offering these predictions the groups would actually take parts of their crops, and some animals and would create large fires that was supposed to be the offering to the gods to create wealth along with good fortune for their land.

When celebrating Halloween today, people wear costumes. In the early parts of the history of Halloween, these costumes were made of animal skins and other parts. As time went on, changes were seen.

You would start to see different cultures were some would celebrate the passing of individuals who had crossed into the spiritual world while other cultures were celebrating various types of gods.

As more time went by all Saints Day was created by the Catholics so that they could revere the many Saints that passed through on Earth. The history of Halloween is quite an amazing event on how it all started and is very rich and vivid.

The different references of this special day are also all Saints Day, all souls Day along with other several similar names. This is the most basic and to the point of the history of Halloween, you can also find a lot of information from different religions and interpretations of the different cultures.

Have you ever wondered what the history of Halloween is? It is said that on this particular holiday season where it dates back to when the Celtics used to have a celebration called Samhain. The proper wording on how to save this word you would find that it would sound like saying sow in.

The original celebrations started around 2,000 years ago. The ancient Celts were located in many places. Today, these locations would include the United Kingdom, some in Northern France, and Ireland.

The Celtic culture originally started the Halloween traditions by celebrating their New Year. This was the end of harvest time and the beginning of winter. The Celtics held the belief that deaths resulted in winter, so their new year began at the end of warmer months.

The history of Halloween story gets a lot more interesting in that the fact that they believed that on October 31 the barrier that is between the undead world, or spiritual world, and the physical world was at its all-time thinnest.

The Celtic community would bring sacrifices in exchange for these predictions. They offered part of their crops and animals in hopes that the gods would give them good luck and wealth for the upcoming year.

When celebrating Halloween today, people wear costumes. In the early parts of the history of Halloween, these costumes were made of animal skins and other parts. As time went on, changes were seen.

Certain cultures celebrated the passing of family members during this time. This developed into a celebration to certain gods for their loved ones.

The Catholic Church adopted Halloween and it became known as All Saints Day or All Souls Day. This was used to celebrate the passing of saints. This gives Halloween part of its rich and varied history.

Known as All Saints Day as well as All Souls Day among other names, this holiday is known world wide. There is a wealth of information available online and in libraries for finding out a more expansive history of Halloween.
